Here is an E-mail I received. This lady is the exact reason we need this service charge. She clearly has no idea what she is talking about and has never been a server. Sometimes I think people just tell me that so I will listen to them. You can always tell when they don’t know what they are talking about because they start insulting you. Please try to understand.

Tipping is an added bonus to the pay you already recieve. I will not tipas an added requirement. I already pay enough to eat at the resturant that I choose.If you expect a tip, you do not deserve one. Your job is to serve me my food andkeep my drink full. You are already being paid for this. If you go beyond theexpectations of your job description then I will leave an amazing tip. You see, Iwas a waitress for many years, I did it because I enjoy people. When the service isnot up to par, I inform the manager. I will not tip just because you expect it.Maybe you should get an education and a better paying job. If tipping was manditory,it would be printed on the menu and posted at the door.
